ON APRIL 27, 2011, A MASSIVE TORNADO PLOWED THROUGH TUSCALOOSA AND NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES, KILLING MORE THAN 40 PEOPLE AND DESTROYING THOUSANDS OF HOMES AND BUSINESSES. JUANITA DRIVE, A TUSCALOOSA SUBDIVISION WITH ONLY ONE WAY IN AND ONE WAY OUT, WAS DEVASTATED BY THE TORNADO. OF THE 110 HOMES ON JUANITA DRIVE, ONLY 21 REMAINED AFTER THE TORNADO. NEARLY ONE YEAR LATER, REMAINING RESIDENTS OF JUANITA DRIVE SHARE THEIR STORIES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY AND HOW THEY CONTINUE TO REBUILD THEIR SHATTERED COMMUNITY.
